Ocean Engineering Program is housed in the 3rd and 4th floor of East Wing TP Rachmat Building. It occupies a combined space about 700 m2. The Ocean Engineering Laboratory is located in the Water Resources and Ocean Engineering Experiments Building with space of more than 1,000 m2. The office, classroom, and laboratory spaces are quite adequate for present needs.
Every faculty member has an appointed private office of a required minimum of 6 square meters. This allows each faculty member to comfortably meet with and advise students. The faculty offices are in the OE Program complex on the third and fourth floor of East Wing of TP Rachmat Building. The rooms have file cabinets, bookshelves, tables, computers with internet connections. The space is adequate for OE Program of 18 faculties.
Clerical staffs are assigned to the main office. The office is run by a secretary, administrative assistant and up to two graduate academic assistants and program assistance. The office also contains the OE Program archives.
OE Program also have two meeting rooms. Both of this rooms located in 3rd floor TP. Rachmat Building that used for faculty and staff meeting. These rooms also use for final year student thesis defend.
In addition, OE Program also have a common rooms for faculty member. This room located in the clerical main office.

Each program in ITB campus has classroom facilities which are managed by their own, whereas there are other classroom facilities within campus area specifically managed by ITB. Classroom facilities for Ocean Engineering students are located on the OE Program Complex. OE Program offers up to 20 courses per semester during the academic year. The enrollment in each course ranges from 15 to 65. OE Program has three air conditioned classrooms which serve OE program exclusively.

1. Ocean Engineering Laboratory
Ocean Engineering Laboratory (http://laboratory.ocean.itb.ac.id/e/) is located in the same building with a Fluid Mechanics and Hydraulics of Water Resources Engineering Laboratory. All OE students have access to laboratory facility and field instrument to conduct experiments and ocean measurements. Students are also exposed to ocean engineering experiment, measurement. The facilities in OE laboratory include the following:

1a. Wave Flume

The OE lab operates a 40 m long, 1.2m wide, and 1.4 m deep Wave Flume facility. Waves are generated by a computer controlled, mechanically driven wave generator which can generate waves up to 0.33 m in height, with period up to 6.6 sec. The Wave Flume is made of glass channel supported by steel reinforced outer skeleton with concrete footing foundation. The glass channel allows the observer to measure and analyze the wave propagation along the flume.

The Wave Flume has been used for a wide variety of experiments, especially in physical modeling of small and medium scale breakwaters and their armor models. The Wave Flumewas used for recent projects for coastal protection system modeling such asA-Jack breakwater armor tests, pontoon type floating breakwater and perforated breakwater. The Wave Flume is also regularly used for OE course KL 3203 Laboratory Experimental Methods.

1b. Wave Basin

The OE program ITB operates a 12 m long, 10 m wide, and 1.0 m deep Wave Basin facility. Waves are generated by a computer controlled, mechanically driven wave generator with and can generate waves up to 0.33 m in height, with periods up to 6.6 sec.

1c. Flow Channel

The OE Lab operates an 11.5 m long, 1.5 m wide, and 0.79 m deep flow channel facility. The channel can generate current velocity up to 40 cm/s.

1d. Towing Tank

OE Labs operates Towing Tank incorporated with 2D wave flume. The carriage in the towing tank can be accelerate up to 2.5 m/s along the wave flume. Dynamic control and motion control of the carriage are controlled in central panel.

1e. Ocean Survey Instruments

The OE Program currently has an assortment of oceanographic instruments that is used to support undergraduate laboratory courses (KL 3201 Laboratory Experimental Methods and KL 3103 Ocean Engineering Data Acquisition and Analysis).

The instruments are operated by Ocean Engineering Laboratory as follow:

> Hydrographic Hydrobox Echo sounder

> GPS mapping TRIMBLE GeoXT 2008

> Current meter FSI 2D-ACM 2ACM-200

> Tide Gauge Valeport Tide Master

> Senix wave gauge

The instruments include one Aanderaa RCM9 current meter, one Horiba Water Quality Meter, one handheld echo sounder, and one handheld Garmin GPS

In addition, OE program has access to other related instruments through cooperation with Agency for Marine and Fisheries Research, Ministry of Marine Affairs and Fisheries. These include a rigid rubber boat (Zodiac) with 50 hp outboard, C-Max side scan sonar, Odom single and multi beam echosounder, sub-bottom profiler, Sontek 150 kHz Acoustic Doppler Current Profiler (ADCP), and a set of Trimble GPS and DGPS.

OE Laboratory maintains an active list of instruments needed to support educational and research programs. The list is generated in OE faculty meeting. Procurement will be conducted based on funding availibity.

OE students who take Materials for Marine Environment (KL3106) are required to perform laboratory work on steel and concrete materials in Structural Engineering Laboratory (http://www.ftsl.itb.ac.id/lab/sel/). Structural Engineering Laboratory has a function as the unit providing the facilities to support FCEE courses, research and development of structural engineering for various construction types. Some of the equipments in Structural Engineering Laboratory are:

The OE program has its own Computing Facility and associated local computer network. This facility is used to support both education and research programs. The OE computer network is fully integrated into the university network with a high speed link to the ITB’s center server. Two wireless facilities were installed within the program. Students are exposed to the latest state-of-the-art engineering software (Offshore Structure Design, Buoy Engineering, Structural Design, 3D Ocean Hydrodynamics, Wave Transformation, 3D Water Quality, 3D Sediment Transport, and Geotechnic). The OE Program operates Windows Systems and a network of Pentium Dual Core based PCs. Computer facilities accessible to undergraduate students include:

> 11 units of customized PC with Pentium i5 and i7 processor, 2 unit customized server, with high end Pentium i7.

> 2 unit Hewlett Packard Laserjet 1000SP laser printer

> 1 units CANON Deskjet IP1880 color inkjet printer.

> 2 units Canon Scanner

OE students who are working on their Final Project also have special access to computational facilities in special Computer Room dedicated only for them. A number of software packages are available to the students for coursework and thesis research. These include:

> Visual Fortran

> Visual Studio

> Student Version Matlab

> Microsoft Office

> MicroSAS

> Orcaflex

> SACS

> MoTuM (3D Ocean Hydrodynamics and Oil Spill Model)

> MuSed3D (3D Ocean Hydrodynamics and Sediment Transport Model)

> MuQual3D (3D Ocean Hydrodynamics and Water Quality Model)

> SFlow (Unsteady Intersection Channel Flow Model)

> SRD (Refraction and Diffraction Model)

> ARCView

> SMS

> Ref/Dif

> EcomSed

> SWAN

> FVCOM

> Beurau Veritas – Hydrostars

> Beurau Veritas – Arianne

> SAP2000

> MIDAS GTS

> MIDAS GEN

> AutoCAD

Students are also given access to the finite element package ANSYS which is maintained by the Mechanical Engineering.
