Attending courses is a must for Ocean Engineering students, but to enhance their engineering skill, the Department of Ocean Engineering offers the following in almost every course :
• Guest lectures from the professional related to Ocean Engineering field
• Field course
• Field trip to Ocean Engineering related project
Hydrographical surveying field course
Field trip to Dwisatu Mustika Bumi (DMB) pipeline installation facilities north of Jakarta
Field trip to CNOOC SES Ltd facilities at Thousand Island on June 2008

2006 Biannual Indonesian Ocean Expo (IOE)
Beside attending lectures in the class, Ocean Engineering students are also actives in Ocean Engineering Student Chapter (KMKL) established in 1994. By forming the Ocean Engineering Student Chapter (KMKL), the students can establish their student activities at their free time. These activities can support their learning process and can support the student soft-skill capabilities.
Their usual activities include :

– Leadership training
– Guest lecturers from alumni
– Religious activities
– Group study
